Director of the Witte Museum in San Antonio, Texas, from its opening in 1926 to her retirement in 1960, Ellen Schulz Quillin (1892-1970) also authored several field guides to Texas wildflowers and other plants. The collection contains the author's copies of two of her published guides, (1922) and (1928). Each contains extensive annotations by Quillin.
